CLEC

Competitive (or Certified) Local Exchange Carrier - the Telecommunications Act of 1996 opened the door for smaller companies to compete with the ILEC (Incumbent LECs), such as RBOCs (Regional BOCs) for local, long distance, international, internet and entertainment

Class of Service - COS

A special limitation on what numbers can and cannot be called. International, 809, 809 + Canada, 48 contiguous states, etc.

Client/Server

A network architecture that lets a user at a PC request information or applications from another computer over a LAN
